On 23 October 2021 the record label Young and Cold Records from Augsburg showcased three bands at the well-known Slaughterhouse club in Berlin. The event followed the German “2G” regulations – only vaccinated or recently recovered people were allowed – which don’t then require wearing a mask inside the venue.
Up first was ADAM USI with a great mix of darkwave and synthpop paired with a great voice and an emotional performance. The audience was already quite numerous in spite of the (especiall for Berlin) early hour, and the gig went down very well.
The second act was the Bavarian solo artist DIAF, who I had already seen at Prague Gothic Treffen in August. And just like there the Berlin people liked it too. This time I also managed to buy the LP 🙂
Headliners were the Polish guys from UNDERTHESKIN who once again gave a very powerful performance of their postpunk / darkwave mix. Driving rhythm, catchy basslines and Mariusz’ singing and guitar melodies just blend in perfectly. Even though I have seen them quite a few times already I am pretty sure I want to see them again.
Conclusion
Three great live acts in a cool venue that has good lighting and fantastic sound – it’s so nice to have this feeling of normality “as far as possible” back again!
